Squeezing the Juice Out of Summer

Juicy Summer Fun

There’s Still Time for Juicy Fun

Is it August already? Where did my summer go? I had so many activities I was going to do this summer. Now it’s almost over. Do you have that, summer is over, kind of feeling sneaking up on you? Don’t give up the bright hopes you had for summer just yet. There is still time for summer fun. Here are some ways to enjoy these last beautiful days of warm weather, sunny days and lingering sunsets in the evenings.
Create the Feelings You Want
Recall your ambitious summer dreams that you had at the end of May or early June. What was on your list of activities that you really wanted to do? Maybe you did take that rafting trip or the long weekend to San Francisco. Most of us choose activities because there is a feeling we want to have as a result of doing these things. Identify the feelings and then create the experience.
Let’s say you wanted to go on a hike in a national park. But you never quite got there. Now there isn’t time. Ask yourself what feeling you would have had if you went on the hike at the park you wanted to go to. Was it exhilaration and a sense of accomplishment? Whatever it was, you can very likely create that feeling by doing a similar activity close to home.
Pick a place near you and find a hike or walk that is challenging and that you have never been to. Need help? Go to All Trails for help. Better yet download the app on your phone and you won’t get lost. This app has high quality maps, trail reviews and photos.

Have the Experience You Would Like
Recall the thoughts you had about the camping trip you wanted to take to Yosemite National Park. There was something really fun you wanted to do there. You started to plan it, the family was on board, but then you couldn’t get reservations. Now you really can’t go because the fires in California have closed the park. Now what? Was the experience you wanted about seeing awesome sites in nature that you haven’t experienced before?
No problem. Here are some little know gems in Colorado. Pick one of these close to home sites and take a trip to something you have never seen before. Chances are you will have the awesome, aha moment, of seeing nature’s beauty right at home.
Can’t Leave Home
Circumstances have changed in your life since May and you really can’t leave town. Summer fun is still possible. Don’t despair. Take an evening, or a day to create some relaxation at home. What helps you feel totally relaxed and at ease, even when you are at home? Is it turning off the TV, your computer and your phone while sitting on the deck reading a book? Identify what you would enjoy at home that will help you unplug for awhile and truly allow yourself to relax. Take a look at these pictures for some inspiration on relaxation.
Something Still Bugging You?
Even in the midst of a beautiful summer life can still get in the way. I’m back from my summer adventures. Sometimes you just need someone to talk to. Give me a call. I’ve got time for you.
